The Lexington Woman’s Club
The Lexington Woman’s Club is a charitable organization which for over 75 years has pursued programs to promote social, educational, and cultural growth and the betterment of humanity at large.
I shall pass through this world but once. If, therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do, let me do it now; let me not defer it or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.
In becoming a member of the Lexington Woman’s Club, I pledge myself to assist in promoting all movements toward the uplifting of the community in its civic, spiritual, and social life. I will hold myself in readiness to do whatever I am asked to the best of my ability.
I further promise to do my utmost to promote the programs and objectives of the club by being helpful and sincere and to uphold its Constitution and Bylaws at all times.
I proudly pledge.
A Collect for Club Women
by Mary Stewart
Keep us, Oh God, from pettiness.
Let us be large in thought, in word, in deed.
Let us be done with fault-finding, and leave off self seeking.
May we put away all pretense and meet each other face to face without self-pity and without prejudice.
May we never be hasty in judgment and always generous.
Let us take time for all things.
Let us grow calm, serene, gentle.
Teach us to put into action our better impulses, straightforward and unafraid.
Grant that we may realize it is the little things that create differences, that in the big things of life we are at one.
And may we strive to touch and know the great, common human heart of us all, and, Oh Lord, God let us forget not to be kind.
